“The hotel is named after the renowned musician Giuseppe Donizetti who was a prominent figure in the ottoman history for his musical works and who lived on Asmalimescit Street for many years until he passed away.
Giuseppe Donizetti came to Istanbul upon Sultan Mahmud II’s invitation and was appointed as the Instructor General of Imperial Ottoman music. He is also the composer of the internationally well-known Mecidiye and Mahmudiye anthem”.
